AFTER REGISTERING FOR THIS COURSE YOU MUST READ YOUR ENTIRE CONFIRMATION E-MAIL before attending the course. You are required to complete the PRE-COURSE ASSESSMENT AND PRE-COURSE WORK (VIDEOS) and provide the COMPLETION CERTIFICATE at the in-person course.
The PALS Precourse Self-Assessment is an online tool that evaluates a student’s knowledge before the course to evaluate their proficiency and determine the need for additional review and practice in 3 sections: rhythm recognition, pharmacology, and practical application. The student must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and achieve a score of at least 70% before taking the ACLS Course. The student must print their successful completion certificate and bring it with them to class.
The PALS Precourse Work involves a student reviewing course content through ONLINE VIDEOS before entering the classroom. The video lessons cover multiple medical subjects, and each lesson includes questions to engage the student.
The American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) program is a low stress, highly interactive course based on simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students will practice essential skills individually, as part of a team and as team leader. Realistic simulations reinforce the following key concepts: proficiency in basic life support care; recognizing and initiating early management of peri-arrest conditions; managing cardiac arrest; identifying and recognizing other life-threatening clinical situations, and providing initial care using the PALS algorithms; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.
Course agreement: To successfully complete this course, the student must be able to demonstrate proficiency in certain skills as well as pass a written exam. Therefore, it is essential that you familiarize yourself with the information in the pre-course videos, pre-course self-assessment, and the PALS study guide provided to you before class. It is expected that the participant will be proficient in BLS before participating in the PALS course. Your BLS skills will be evaluated during the PALS skill stations but does not constitute a BLS renewal.
