Child Care Providers: The Child Care Organization Act (1973 PA 116) requires CPR and First Aid to be current. Renewal courses will need to be taken before the expiration date on the cards. Under the authority granted to the department by 1973 PA 116, the American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course is approved by the Bureau of Community and Health Systems, Child Care Licensing Division to provide adult, infant, and child CPR and/or first aid training to childcare providers and caregivers. Mariners and Boat Captains: After completing this course, you will recieve AMERHA-216 course certificate to satisfy: • Elementary First Aid per STCW Code Table A-VI/1-3; • Elementary First Aid per 46 CFR 11.302(a)(3) and 46 CFR 12.602(a)(3); • The first aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(i)(1); and. • All elective sections of Heartsaver First Aid With CPR AED (AMERHA-216) will be given.
Teachers: Michigan Compiled Law (MCL) 380.1531d requires all certified teachers, or teacher certificate candidates recommended for initial certification to complete coursework in all of the following; First Aid (FA), Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). This course meets all three of these legal requirements.
Coaches: House Bills 5527 and 5528, Require all high school athletic coaches (public and private) to maintain valid certification in CPR and AED usage issued by the American Heart Association, or a comparable organization approved by the Michigan Department of Education.
